Business Ethics Training Company Featured in IOMA's December Report on The Best Training Programs in Use Today.

Before Enron and front-page corporate scandals, CTI (Character Training Inc.) of Bothell, Washington was hard at work in the previously unknown ethics-training arena. The Institute of Management & Administration (IOMA) featured CTI's successful work with a large public agency on the front page of its December report on The Best Training Programs in Use Today.

The large public agency (referred to generically as "Big Org" in order to maintain anonymity) adapted CTI's Ethics for a Modern Workforce training program for its 1000+ employees. The training coordinator at Big Org was quoted as saying, "Mark Putnam (CTI's President) has a positive, straightforward, and flexible approach. Other companies tended to focus on how to protect yourself versus doing the right thing."

The 3-page article on CTI described the program and its implementation at Big Org, as well as the keys to its success and tips for best practices. The training team at Big Org noted that the key benefits of the ethics training were enhanced trust, better customer satisfaction, increased morale, and improved communication. They also discovered five key success factors: 1. It's positive approach; 2. The quality of the training; 3. The use of employees to train employees; 4. The credibility and experience of the training team; 5. The teamwork among the facilitators. The IOMA report also listed lessons learned from the ethics training and sample contents from CTI's program.

CTI has been in business since 1998 and has developed a wide variety of clients both in the private and public sector. The cornerstone of its philosophy is to weave personal character into all its programs. Mark Putnam, the President, has had business ethics articles published in BLR's Best Practices in HR, Executive Excellence magazine, Executive Update, HR e-lert, and others. The program at Big Org (implemented before the current business ethics scandals) shows how a proactive approach to business ethics can build a stronger, more ethically conscious-organization before a crisis hits.
